World’s Thinnest 3D Printed Cornea Implanted in Jerusalem
Ophthalmologists at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center (SZMC) have implanted the world's thinnest 3D cornea made from synthetic acrylic material, according to a report from The Jerusalem Post. The implant was manufactured by Israel-based EyeYon Medical.
The patient underwent successful surgery 6 weeks after a long period of severely impaired vision and significant pain. He previously underwent the implantation of a cornea from a cadaver, but his body rejected it about 2 years ago.
