VisionGift Announces the Retirement of Longtime Medical Director, Mark Terry, MD

VisionGift, a nonprofit dedicated ot ocular donation and corneal transplantation, announced the retirement of its medical director Mark Terry, MD, after 34 years of dedicated service to the field of eye banking. Succeeding him in this role will be Winston Chamberlain, MD, PhD, and Michael Straiko, MD, who will jointly serve as medical directors.
Dr. Terry leaves behind a legacy of innovation, compassion, and leadership. According to VisionGift, over his tenure, Dr. Terry played a pivotal role in pioneering corneal transplantation techniques, fostering research collaborations, and improving patient outcomes worldwide, according to VisionGift.
"Dr. Terry’s vision and commitment have been instrumental in shaping VisionGift into the global leader it is today," Chris Stoeger, CEO at VisionGift, said in a company news release. "His passion for excellence in eye care and dedication to advancing corneal transplantation have touched countless lives. While we will miss his regular presence, his contributions will continue to guide our work for years to come."
In honor of Dr. Terry’s contributions, VisionGift will establish the 'Dr. Mark Terry Vision Research Fund,' dedicated to supporting ocular research.

Drs. Chamberlain and Straiko bring experience and expertise to their new role. Dr. Chamberlain is a corneal surgeon and current EBAA (Eye Bank Association of America) Board Chair Elect and past Medical Advisory Board (MAB) Chair; while Dr. Straiko is renowned for his surgical expertise and dedication to advancing corneal transplantation techniques.
