Vision Expo East Cancelled Due to Coronavirus; Will Consolidate With Vision Expo West in Las Vegas

The organizers of Vision Expo announced that they are cancelling the scheduled Vision Expo East meeting scheduled to take place in New York, March 26-29, and consolidate that meeting with Vision Expo West in Las Vegas, Sept. 23-26. The decision was made due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus.

A statement from The Vision Council and Reed Exhibitions read, “We at Vison Expo want to express our concern for everyone impacted by coronavirus. Based on our active and close monitoring of ongoing developments related to the COVID-19 virus; recent reports from public health officials and in line with national and regional authorities and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, together with extensive consultation with our partners at The Vision Council and in the global vision care and services community, Vision Expo East, due to be held March 26-29, will now be consolidated with Vision Expo West in Las Vegas, September 23-26.”

The statement said that the organizers will continue to create ways to connect and collaborate during this difficult period:

• During March, Vision Expo will work to develop virtual meetings between contracted exhibitors and pre-registered attendees.
• Vision Expo will work to create customized services for participants in order to maximize successful outcomes at Vision Expo West.

“This was a difficult decision for our organization, but ultimately The Vision Council’s Board of Directors believes the safety and well-being of our members, exhibitors, attendees and staff must come first,” Ashley Mills, CEO of The Vision Council, said in the statement. “Furthermore, we want to be respectful to the exhibitors and attendees who would not be able to attend Vision Expo East due to travel restrictions.”

The Vision Council and Reed Exhibitions stated that they would like to express our sincere gratitude to exhibitors, members, attendees, suppliers and staff for their support during this challenging time. “We look forward to bringing the vision community together at Vision Expo West.Vision Expo West is scheduled for September 23 through 26 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas.”
