The Vision Council Releases Updated Version of Data Communication Standard

The Vision Council announced the official release and approval of Version 3.14 of its Data Communication Standard in an effort to advance the efficiency, accuracy, and interoperability of optical manufacturing systems.

Developed by the Data Communications Standard Committee, the updated standard aims to reflect the industry’s ongoing commitment to technological advancement and innovation. Version 3.14 introduces critical updates designed to align with evolving technologies and reorganizes how data points are defined, resulting in more consistent and reliable communication across devices and platforms.

The Data Communication Standard serves as a unified framework that enables data exchange between machines and software systems used in the production of ophthalmic lenses. By facilitating standardized connections between equipment manufacturers and software providers, the standard significantly enhances workflow compatibility across optical labs, according to The Vision Council.
