TECLens Donates 10,000 PPE Face Shields to Workers on Front Line

04/07/2020

TECLens announced the donation of 10,000 PPE face shields to the Montefiore Hospital System in Bronx, New York, for distribution to its hospitals’ frontline care givers.

“Several weeks ago we established a dedicated network of 3D print makers to make face shield components for assembly at TECLens and delivery to Montefiore front line responders. Our cofounder, Roy Chuck, MD, PhD, who is the chair of ophthalmology there, made us aware of the dire need for these shields early in the coronavirus outbreak. TECLens immediately pivoted to this charity effort,” TECLens CEO David Acker said in a company news release. “Montefiore’s location in the Bronx, with the densest population in NYC, has the highest Covid-19 death rate in the city. It became clear that we needed to do more and quickly. We were able to source, pay for, and donate 10,000 face shields. We will continue our 3D printing effort as well which has resulted in an additional 500 shields delivered to date.”
