SAV-IOL Launches Instant Focus EDOF IOL Technology

Instant Focus is a unique optical technology designed by Swiss IOL maker SAV-IOL (Swiss Advanced Vision). The technology is designed to replace the accommodative function of the eye’s natural lens after cataract surgery, and is manufactured and marketed directly from their headquarters in Neuchatel, Switzerland.

"Unlike other EDOF technologies on the market, Instant Focus builds its field of vision starting from the near, offering the possibility for the patient to live spectacle free. The technology is incorporated in the central aspheric surface of the lens which provides the patient a continuous near to intermediate vision while the rest of the lens’ surface provides the distance vision. This multi-zone surface gives the patient an overall high-quality vision without any manipulation of spherical aberration or integration of diffractive rings," according to SAV-IOL.

Instant Focus was designed in 2009 and was the foundation of a new business, SAV-IOL SA, which began the commercialization of their first EDOF intraocular lens—InFo—in 2016, known today as the Eden EDOF IOL. SAV-IOL later launched the Lucidis EDOF IOL. With the incorporation of the Instant Focus technology in the lens’ center, Lucidis has gained attention of thousands of surgeons in 35+ countries worldwide.
