Prevent Blindness Announces Matt MacDonald as Chair-Elect of Board of Directors
Prevent Blindness, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eye health and safety awareness, named Matt MacDonald as Chair-elect of its Board of Directors. The vote was held last week during the Spring 2025 Board Meeting. He will succeed current Board of Directors Chair Jim McGrann, CEO of Advancing Eyecare, who will complete his term in November.
Mr. MacDonald is the President and Global Head of Managed Care at EyeMed Vision Care. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Vision Care Plans and is a member of the Cincinnati Regional Business Committee. He was elected to the Prevent Blindness Board of Directors in November 2023 as Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee.
“I am honored to be elected as the Chair-elect of the Board of Directors of Prevent Blindness, one of the industry’s most respected and impactful organizations, and look forward to working with Jim, the Board of Directors, Jeff Todd, and the Prevent Blindness staff on the journey to make high quality eyecare available to everyone,” Mr. MacDonald said in a recent press release.
The organization also plans to launch a new, 5-year strategic plan in April with goals to drive significant growth amid a rapidly evolving eye health landscape. They stated their focus will be to support breakthroughs in research and emerging technologies, as well as combating rising threats to vision including pediatric myopia and aging populations.
“We are excited about the direction of our new strategic plan, one that furthers our aim of ensuring access to high-quality eyecare to everyone,” Jeff Todd, President and CEO of Prevent Blindness said. “I’m thrilled that Matt will be taking on this new role and look forward to working with him, Jim, and the rest of our esteemed Board of Directors as we advance the goals and objectives of this plan, continuing our role as the nation’s trusted partner in eyecare.”
