OIS Plans to Hold Anterior Segment Meeting
The organizers of the Ophthalmology Innovation Summit (OIS) released an email stating that they are still planning to move forward with the scheduled OIS Anterior Segment Summit on May 14.
“Surprising as it may seem, the number of attendees and speakers committing to the OIS Anterior Segment Summit on May 14th continues to grow,” according to Craig Simak, co-founder, OIS.
“While the COVID-19 virus is to be taken seriously, we are holding steady with the hopes that travel restrictions will be lifted and the virus will be contained in time for the summit. This week, the Governor of Massachusetts declared a state of emergency to help prepare for the impact of COVID-19. This guidance is in place until April 10th which is a full month before the summit. We will keep a close watch for updates and are ready to respond if the situation changes. As always, the health and safety of our attendees is a top priority so we will take any necessary precautions to ensure a great event for everyone,” the statement read.
The meeting, which proceeds the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) meeting, is taking place the same time as Eyecelerator, a new business conference aimed at furthering ophthalmic innovation. Eyecelerator is a joint venture between the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the ASCRS).
Mr. Simak stated that a full refund will be made to those who register if they are unable to attend for any reason.
