Oertli’s CataRhex 3 Device Now Equipped With Speep Pump Innovation

Oertli Instrumente has expanded the CataRhex 3 to include the pump innovation, “SPEEP,” which is designed to provide more efficiency and precision in cataract surgery due to precise control of flow and vacuum.

The CataRhex 3 is Oertli’s compact and portable surgical platform for cataract and glaucoma surgery. The CataRhex 3 is now equipped with the SPEEP pump innovation, which enables manual control of the holding force regardless of the type of tissue. The pump can be addressed immediately and directly by the surgeons, and supports precise and fine maneuvering directly on the tissue. Independent control of flow and vacuum allows work to be carried out under safe conditions with maximum control and efficiency – while simultaneously maintaining high chamber stability, according to Oertli. 

SPEEP combines the advantages of a flow-controlled peristaltic pump with the athletic performance of a Venturi pump. With the SPEEP pump,* both flow and vacuum can be controlled independently, providing the surgeon with the desired control over fluidics. Surgeons gain excellent control, whether it is for speedy core preparation or fine capsule polishing.

In cataract surgery, the SPEEP pump can provide helpful support for eyes with pronounced zonular weakness or floppy iris syndrome. The finely adjustable holdability of the SPEEP pump also provides the expected control during the removal of the epinucleus, according to Oertli.
