Ocutech Introduces New Ves Falcon Autofocus Bioptic Telescope

08/01/2018

Following 6 years of development and testing, Ocutech has introduced its new VES Falcon Autofocus Bioptic Telescope, the company’s next generation autofocusing bioptic for the visually impaired.

The Falcon is in initial limited release with select low-vision specialists in the United States and will be available to all low vision prescribers in the fall.

The Falcon’s advanced technology provides low vision patients with a natural, hands-free magnified vision. Wearers will be able to see clearly and effortlessly, allowing them to engage in normal day-to-day activities. The crisp, bright, high-contrast wide-field 4x Keplerian optics provide a 12.5-degree field of view, and a focusing range as close as 13 inches. The Falcon operates for 8 hours on a single charge, is easy for low vision specialists to prescribe, and comfortable to wear, weighing just 3.2 ounces.

“As a pioneer in developing high-quality telescopic low-vision telescopes, we are pleased to continue our technological innovation that supports the societal and far-ranging needs of the visually impaired,” Henry Greene, OD, FAAO, and co-founder of Ocutech, said in a company news release.

The Falcon has a suggested patient price of $3,900, excluding customization charges and professional fees.
