Oculus Unveils Pentacam Cornea OCT

Oculus is introducing the Pentacam Cornea OCT, a tool that combines Scheimpflug technology with the world’s first pericentric OCT scanning system, according to a company news release. The device provides cornea specialists with imaging capabilities, capturing both Scheimpflug images and ultra high-resolution OCT images of the cornea in just 1 second.
The Pentacam Cornea OCT simultaneously acquires these two types of images at the same locations on the cornea, offering a new level of detail in visualizing corneal anomalies. This dual imaging capability enables comprehensive corneal assessments, including precise measurements of all refractive layers and detailed visualization of sublayers. Such capabilities are crucial for the early detection of ectasia, surgical planning, and postoperative care.
In addition to its advanced imaging features, the new Pentacam Cornea OCT is fully compatible with all existing Pentacam examination data, regardless of the model or software version. This compatibility ensures that follow-up examinations and progression analyses are streamlined, making it easier for clinicians to track changes in corneal health over time.
Attendees of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) 2024 conference in Barcelona will have the opportunity to experience the Pentacam Cornea OCT firsthand at the Oculus booth 7.E24. Additionally, experts will present initial trial results and insights into the device's clinical applications during the Oculus Lunch Symposium on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in room 8.1 M.
