Oculus Launches Myopia Software Package on the Pentacam AXL Wave

Oculus is launching the Myopia Software Package on the Pentacam AXL Wave. The new software is designed to offer optometrists improved accuracy, ease, and safety in their myopia management, comprehensive screening, and ortho-k fitting with one device.

The Pentacam AXL Wave is now able to assess axial length growth rate, refractive error, corneal stability, and corneal health; explain their clinical significance to patients; and fit contact lenses and evaluate ortho-k treatment success.

The Myopia Software Package launch includes the following displays:

• Growth Curves: Clinicians can use this module to assess a patient’s axial length and refractive error compared to age and ethnicity-dependent growth curves calculated from 20,000+ eyes using exclusive Brien Holden Vision Institute algorithms. The easy-to-interpret graph supports initial risk assessment and projection of potential progression, streamlining clinical evaluation and explanations to parents and patients.
• GRAS Module: The Gullstrand Refractive Analysis System supports the comparison of individual optical components with the age-adjusted Gullstrand eye.
• Myopia Guide: This display includes a risk factor questionnaire and customized report to boost conversions and secure buy-in for treatment recommendations.
• Growth Control: This module enables precise analysis of individual myopia treatment efficacy withautomatic calculation of annual axial length growth rate visually compared to age-adjusted normative data. Color-coded parameters support validation of treatment success or decisions to alter treatment.
