Oculus has announced a strategic partnership with Luvo to bring new specialty care devices to the US optometry and ophthalmology market. As part of the deal, Oculus is launching the Luvo Lucent and Darwin with Intense Pulse Light and Radio Frequency therapy, which are designed to enable eye care professionals to offer safe, effective, and comfortable treatments to their patients in their own offices.

The Intense Pulse Light (IPL) therapy offered through the Lucent IPL and Darwin multi-modality workstation delivers energy at several different wavelengths to treat multiple conditions. This allows eye care practitioners to manage patients and provide treatment in their own practice, reducing the need to refer patients to external providers.

Eye care professionals can enjoy multiple IPL applications, several pulse modes, and advanced cooling technology while benefiting from the user-friendly interface that makes it easy to choose treatment parameters based on skin types. The Thermal Radio Frequency (Refresh RF) handpiece included with the Darwin workstation complements IPL therapy and enables eye care professionals to treat regardless of skin type. Using the Non-Pole Thermal Structure (NTTSTM ) technology, the Darwin delivers focused and uniform thermal energy to heat the target area, according to Oculus.

"Maintaining our dedication to specialty eye care, Oculus had been searching for the ideal treatment partner to align with our premium diagnostic equipment. With Luvo's superior quality, shared corporate values, and experience in the Canadian eye care market, we knew we had found our partner,” TJ Flynn, Director of Business Development for Oculus, said in a company news release. “We look forward to introducing these devices to the market the way ECPs expect, with an emphasis on education and unparalleled customer support."

Oculus will be presenting the Lucent and Darwin to the US ophthalmic market for the first time at Vision Expo West in Las Vegas at booth #F13053 and the American Academy of Ophthalmology in San Francisco at booth #1431.
