Nidek Launches NP-T Preloaded Toric IOL Injection System

Nidek announced the international launch of its NP-T Preloaded Toric IOL Injection System. Previously available exclusively in Japan, the system is now available globally.
The NP-T system is designed to combine precision engineering with user-friendly design, featuring a preloaded aspheric hydrophobic soft acrylic toric lens. According to Nidek, the system aims to simplify cataract surgeries through its streamlined two-step process: filling the viscoelastic material and pressing the plunger. The dual silicone ring ensures consistent resistance, providing stable and safe IOL delivery.
Nidek says the Aktis Toric IOL provides stability and innovative design. Clinical data highlights its performance, with an average absolute rotation of only 2.1°± 1.7° from 1 hour to 6 months postoperatively. The lens’s wide contact area and 90° haptic design contribute to stable and well-centered implantation, improving outcomes for patients.
The NP-T system offers a broad diopter range from 1.0 D to 30.0 D and cylinder power on the IOL plane from 0.75 D to 6.00 D. Its design shares the same operational mechanism as the Nidek NP-1/NP-1C, allowing surgeons to perform toric and non-toric IOL implantation with the same technique.
"The addition of the NP-T to our NP series expands our range of solutions, offering superior operability and enhancing surgical workflows," Motoki Ozawa, President and CEO of Nidek, said in a company news release. "With its global availability, we are proud to provide surgeons with a safe, efficient, and comfortable IOL delivery system that ensures excellent postoperative outcomes."
