Nidek Launches Cube Alpha Ophthalmic Surgical System

Nidek has announced the launch of the Cube α ophthalmic surgical system, which is designed to incorporate new ultrasound technology to deliver more powerful and effective phacoemulsification.

According to Nidek, the Cube α incorporates Gyro torsional technology in a compact body. Torsional ultrasound oscillation helps provide more efficient delivery of ultrasound energy, especially for moderate cataracts. Design enhancements increase surgical safety by protecting intraocular tissues.

The relatively straight Gyro tip design makes the device easy to handle while minimizing fluid turbulence during lens emulsification, according to Nidek, and the newly designed Neo sleeve series is designed to provide better fluid dynamics and excellent anterior chamber stability. Improved fluid dynamics in the eye with the tip and the sleeve contribute to surgical efficiency and safety.

The Cube α is CE Mark approved. It is not yet cleared by the FDA.
