Renowned ophthalmologists Jorge Alio, MD, PhD, FEBOphth; Buchard Dick, MD, PhD, FEBOS-CR; and Bob Osher, MD, have edited a new book titled "Cataract Surgery in Complex and Complicated Cases." It includes a large number of videos that aims to enrich the didactic value of the book.

Published by Springer Nature, the authors say the book aims to lead the reader through every conceivable pitfall in ophthalmology, presenting cases—some very advanced such as eyes with a long history of recurrent uveitis or severe glaucoma damage—that require technical skill, experience, a well organized OR team, and compassion.

"While saying 'nothing is impossible' would be undue hubris, many things are these days in cataract surgery," according to a news release announcing the release of the book. "And a person who in medical vernacular might have been named a complicated, or even a desperate case, can turn out as what medicine should be about: a happy patient."
