Nanodropper Launches 2022 Give the Gift of Vision Campaign to Support Global Access to Eye Care

Nanodropper has launched its 2022 Give the Gift of Vision program, an effort to donate 1,000 Nanodropper Adaptors to at-need patients in the United States and its global nonprofit partners, aiming to deliver better access to vision-saving care in low resource settings in Africa, Haiti, and elsewhere. The company is asking the community to support its Give the Gift of Vision program by purchasing a $20 Nanodropper bundle to support patients in the United States and nonprofit partners supporting global health efforts.
The Nanodropper Adaptor is designed to be a small solution to a big problem—most eye drop bottles waste 80 percent of its contents, and the eye can only absorb about 20-30 percent of a typical, oversized eyedrop. The Nanodropper is an adaptor for eye drop bottles that reduces the size of a drop to just what the eye can absorb.
“Two of the greatest obstacles to adherence are both price and convenience,” said Alan Robin, MD, ophthalmologist and founding member of the American Glaucoma Society. “The Nanodropper has the potential to minimize both of these impediments.”
There are more than 3 million Americans living with glaucoma. Many struggle to afford their medications, and many more around the world have trouble simply gaining access to the vision-saving eyedrop medications that they need. Nanodropper’s Give the Gift of Vision program addresses this need by offering the public an opportunity to help those who might face a difficult choice between affording their medications or paying for other necessities, like rent or groceries, and simultaneously promoting better access to eye care around the world.
“Healthy eyes are the center of all the work we do,” Nanodropper CCO Mackenzie Andrews said in a company news release. “It’s the reason why our team came together in the first place. Nanodropper’s Give the Gift of Vision program is our way of getting everyone involved so we help those who really need it. We believe money should never come between a patient and their vision.”
A Nanodropper Adaptor triples the amount of drops in an eye drop bottle by making them smaller, reducing waste and extending the life of the bottle.
Participating in the GTGOV program costs $20 for a 2 Nanodropper Adaptor bundle. This means an at-need individual in the U.S. now has 3 months of their eye-saving medication instead of 1 month, and an individual supported through nonprofit efforts is tripling their access to eyecare. Nanodropper’s nonprofit partners include Unite For Sight, Dean McGee Eye Institute Foundation, Chicago Lighthouse, Focus, Inc., CharityVision, Floating Doctors, and UHI Community Clinic.
Just 1 Nanodropper can save 2 eye drop bottles worth of medication. For a glaucoma patient whose eye drops may cost up to $500 per month, that means eliminating 2 refills, or up to $1,000 in potential savings. Contributions double that impact—the 2-adaptor bundle supplies a Nanodropper to a patient in the U.S., and to one of the organization’s nonprofit partners.
Nanodropper offers an open application for any patient who cannot afford a Nanodropper in the U.S. After a simple screening process, they provide adaptors that have been donated by generous community members directly to at-need individuals.
