Ludwin Monz Stepping Down as CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec
President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG Ludwin Monz, PhD, announced that he will not be accepting another term in office, and will be stepping down from his postion effective December 31, 2021.
The supervisory board has appointed Markus Weber, PhD, as the new President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, effective January 1, 2022. As a member of the Executive Board of Carl Zeiss AG, he is currently responsible for the Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology segment and will relinquish his current duties on December 31, 2021.

He has helped the company to evolve in a distinct and lasting manner and shaped it into one of eastern Germany's major listed companies. He has transformed Carl Zeiss Meditec AG into a technology leader in ophthalmology and microsurgery," said Dr. Karl Lamprecht, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG and President and CEO of Carl Zeiss AG. "We were saddened to hear of Dr. Monz' decision not to stand for another term, but we certainly wish him all the best going forward."

The Supervisory Board has appointed Andreas Pecher to take over for Dr. Weber as head of the Zeiss Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology segment and executive board member of Carl Zeiss AG. Effective January 1, 2022, the three-member Executive Board of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG will also include Justus Wehmer as Chief Financial Officer, and Jan Willem de Cler, who is responsible for Human Resources, Global Service & Customer Care, and Operations.
