Konan Medical USA announced the commercial launch of its objectiveFIELD (OFA) visual field analyzer.

The OFA is an objective visual field analyzer designed to detect visual field abnormalities using pupillary responses. According to Konan Medical, unlike traditional subjective standard automated perimetry (SAP), which relies on a patient's manual responses to visual stimuli, the OFA uses advanced infrared video cameras to measure pupil responses to spatially resolved stimuli. This includes analyzing both the amplitude (sensitivity) and time-to-peak constriction (delay) of pupil reactions. The result is a more accurate and reliable assessment of visual field function without requiring subjective input from patients.

Reports generated by OFA are formatted for easy interpretation, allowing for side-by-side comparisons with standard SAP reports. Konan Medical says this streamlined reporting format will enhance clinical efficiency in ophthalmology practices.

The development of the objectiveFIELD was made possible through a collaboration with the John Curtin School of Medical Research, ANU College of Health and Medicine, led by Professor Ted Maddess.

This new technology is now available for sale in the United States, Canada, Japan, and select international markets. The CE Mark certification under the Medical Device Regulation (MDR) is currently pending for the European market.
