Johnson & Johnson Vision to Showcase New Data and Interactive Experiences at 2019 American Academy of Optometry Annual Meeting
Johnson & Johnson Vision will be sharing new science and clinical practice information to advance treatment paradigms and vision outcomes together with eye care professionals at the 2019 American Academy of Optometry Annual Meeting, held October 23 – 27 in Orlando, Florida.
“We’re excited to lead in the exchange of new ideas informed by data and science,” Thomas Swinnen, President, North America, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, said in a company news release. “We’re profiling new evidence that shows spectacle wearers who have never worn contact lenses covet the experience they had with our ACUVUE OASYS with Transitions contact lenses and other data to advance discussions around current myopia control methods and measure. These studies offer two diverse examples of our commitment to empower eye care professionals with new information.”
Scientific Presentations
Johnson & Johnson Vision and its collaborators will present several papers and posters at Academy 2019 including the new study focused on photochromic contact lenses, new science around the growing prevalence and impact of myopia and advancing discussions around the need for more evidence-based treatment measures to help address this public health threat.
ACUVUE OASYS with Transitions
Johnson & Johnson Vision will be debuting the results of a new study around ACUVUE OASYS with Transitions contact lenses which reveals that the benefits of this first-of-its-kind light adaptive lens were deemed highly valued by people who had never worn contact lenses, and that most study participants preferred† to have the ACUVUE OASYS with Transitions contact lenses as part of their habitual vision correction.
John R. Buch, OD, MS, FAAO and Senior Principal Research Optometrist at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. will present findings from the study, “Performance and Acceptance of Senofilcon A with Photochromic Additive on a Neophyte Population,” on Thursday, October 24, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., Exhibit Hall WD1 Board #131.
Myopia Health Outcomes & Treatment Insights
Given its aspiration to halt the myopia epidemic, Noel A. Brennan, MScOptom, PhD, FAAO and Clinical Research Fellow at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., is presenting new science and advancing discussions around current myopia control methods and measures and the need for evidence-based criteria to inform treatment decision making for practitioners.
Dr. Brennan will present findings from the study, “Safety of Contact Lenses in Pediatrics: Data Analysis from Six Randomized Myopia Control Trials,” on Thursday, October 24, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Exhibit Hall WD1 Board #172. This will also be included in the myopia super hybrid paper/poster session from 9 a.m. – noon, Room W224 ABC, Board #1.
This study analyzed ocular adverse event data from six randomized controlled trials among a total of 663 myopic children (aged 7 – 15 years at baseline) who were administered daily disposable hydrogel (etafilcon A) contact lenses. The rate of adverse events among these children was similar to, if not less than, that which has been previously observed among adults.
Interactive Experiences in Booth #1201
At Academy 2019, the Johnson & Johnson Vision exhibit booth will host a variety of interactive experiences including product promotions, hands-on demonstrations and education, including a one-of-a-kind light simulation that will ‘teleport’ visitors to exotic locations where they can see first-hand the unique benefits of ACUVUE OASYS with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology and how the contact lens works to provide superior visual performanceǂ in real-time demonstrations across various lighting conditions.
