John Weiss Secures Exclusive UK Distributorship for VRmagic’s Eyesi Surgical Medical Simulator

12/01/2020

John Weiss & Son has announced it has secured an exclusive distributorship for the VRmagic Eyesi Surgical medical simulator.

VRmagic was established in 2001 and is a provider of virtual and augmented reality technology in medical training. The solutions developed by VRmagic permit a realistic and dynamic simulation of both examinations of, and operations on, the eye.

The Eyesi Surgical is a virtual reality simulator for intraocular surgery training, developed for cataract and vitreoretinal surgeons. Through the simulator´s OR microscope, trainees can see the virtual surgical field in stereo and high-resolution, while operating with life-like surgical instruments. The highly-realistic simulation of interaction with tissue in real-time, increases trainees’ surgical experience without the risk for patients.

“VRmagic joined the Haag-Streit Group in April 2020, however it already had strong, well-established links with the group. The Eyesi Surgical’s binocular microscope features mechanical and optical systems from Haag-Streit,” Dean Johnson, MD, John Weiss & Son, said in a company news release. “John Weiss is delighted to gain exclusive UK distributorship for this pioneering surgical simulator product. The Eyesi Surgical is the first medical simulator to be added to the company’s gold-standard portfolio and we are thrilled to be expanding our offering for ophthalmic surgeons in the key field of medical training.”

VRmagic has also launched the Eyesi Slit Lamp medical simulator in the UK, which will be distributed by John Weiss’ sister company, Haag-Streit UK.
