IntRIS Hosts ARCR Macular 2024 Meeting and Presents Interview With FDA’s Dr. Wiley Chambers

The International Retinal Imaging Society (IntRIS) hosted the Atlantic Coast Retina Club (ACRC) Macula 2024, led by K. Bailey Freund, MD.
According IntRIS, the ACRC meeting format includes rapid-fire single-case presentations, engaging discussions, and conferences covering diverse retinal topics.
This year’s conference, which was held January 4-6 in New York, New York, delved into critical issues in retinal diseases and treatments and featured discussions on ongoing pharmacologic and gene therapy trials, advancements in retinal imaging, applications of artificial intelligence in retina, and surgical management of retinal diseases.
On the last day of the conference, David M. Brown, MD, conducted an interview with special guest, Wiley A. Chambers, MD. Dr. Chambers, who is Medical Officer in the FDA’s Office of New Drugs, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, discussed his life and career in ophthalmology and his experience with the FDA. IntRIS noted that retina specialists Ronald Carr, MD, Paul Henkind, MD, and Lawrence Yannuzzi, MD, founded the meeting, which evolved into the Atlantic Coast Retina Club, an annual event initiated by Stuart Fine, MD; Jerry Shields, MD; and Dr. Yannuzzi.
According to IntRIS, The meetings are held alternatingly in Baltimore, Maryland; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; New York, New York; and Boston, Massachusetts.
