Ikerian and RetinAI Secure $8M Financing to Drive AI Healthcare Innovation

Switzerland-based Ikerian AG and its subsidiary RetinAI US, announced the successful first close of their Series B financing round, securing USD $8 million (CHF 6.73 million).

With the newly secured funding, Ikerian said it is set to fast-track the development of its flagship product, Discovery CONNECT, a software solution designed to streamline imaging data uploads across clinical workflows. The software automates, anonymizes, and synchronizes data transfers, helping healthcare providers reduce manual errors while protecting patient privacy. CONNECT is designed to improve clinical decision-making and the efficiency of clinical study recruitment. The product is expected to launch in Q1 2025.

The Series B funding was spearheaded by strategic investor Sanoptis, alongside follow-on investments from existing stakeholders, including THINC Ventures of Topcon Healthcare, Zürcher Kantonalbank, and Verve Ventures. 

Along with its equity investment, Sanoptis has entered a commercial agreement to scale the distribution of RetinAI Discovery and its AI-driven models within its European network. DISCOVERY, enhanced by generative AI tools, will support clinics by optimizing workflow efficiency and improving diagnostic and treatment pathways. Early deployment of DISCOVERY began in select Sanoptis clinics in Q4 2024, with plans for broader implementation across the network.
