iCare Launches ST500 Slit-Lamp Based Tonometer

iCare announced the release of the iCare ST500, a slit-lamp-based tonometer that brings the features of iCare’s rebound tonometry technology into a modern design.
The iCare ST500 offers an advanced solution for IOP measurement, combining extreme ease of use for practitioners with maximum comfort for patients. Its design is designed to allow for faster operation and smoother acquisition, enhancing the workflow in clinical environments, according to iCare, a subsidiary of Revenio Group.
One of the key highlights of the iCare ST500 is its clinical validation, which demonstrates a high correlation of IOP measurements with applanation tonometry—the current gold standard. The device’s data also indicates less variability in repeated measurements when compared to the gold standard tonometer (GAT), reinforcing its reliability and precision. Unlike traditional applanation tonometry, the ST500 delivers fast and repeatable, operator-independent IOP measurements. This not only improves the workflow but also ensures a new standard of trust in clinical decision-making.
The ST500 offers an intuitive user interface and is designed with user-friendly features, including a big display that helps with alignment and acquisition. The slit-lamp-mounted design facilitates easy patient positioning, while a remote control enhances the operator’s experience by simplifying the acquisition process.
The 'Quick Measure' feature is designed to accelerate the process even in challenging cases, reducing patient stress and making the operator’s job easier. Other advantages of rebound technology include:
- No need for topical anesthesia or fluorescent dye
- No need for time-consuming calibration procedures
- No requirement for disinfection or sterilization
iCare is also introduceing the SmartCradle with the ST500, which features a rechargeable lithium battery and offers future connectivity options for easy digitalization of IOP measurements.
