Hoya Surgical Optics Introduces On-Demand Platform Qube Pro Powered by Eyeflexa

11/10/2020

Hoya Surgical Optics obtained CE Mark for “Qube pro powered by eyeflexa,” a technology that can support both cataract and vitreoretinal surgery.

Eyeflexa is a multi-upgrade platform designed to evolve with the changing needs of ophthalmic surgeons, according to a company news release. It will be available in 3 configurations—anterior basic, anterior lux, and combined lux. It is designed to be flexible and support surgeons as their expertise and practice demands grow.

“We are very proud to introduce Qube pro powered by eyeflexa, a technology ready to meet our customers’ needs today while being easily upgradable in the future should those needs evolve,” Antonio Gianno, VP Global Marketing, said in a company news release.

Hoya Surgical Optics will now commence the marketing evaluation phase where customers will be able to experience: (1) the performance of eyeflexa in both anterior and posterior segment, (2) flexible commercial solutions tailored to their needs, and (3) the clinical application and technical service support.

Hoya Surgical Optics acquired MID Labs and RUCK in 2019 in order to expand its scope of business and better serve its customers’ needs. The combined capability allows for increased support of cataract surgery as well as the ability to offer customers more comprehensive solutions for their patients.

“While we remain an IOL-focused company, strategic acquisitions allow us to better serve our customers’ broader needs for high quality ophthalmic products, equipment and services,” John Goltermann Lassen, CEO of Hoya Surgical Optics, said in the news release. “Based on the acquisition of MID Labs and RUCK, along with investments in R&D, we have been able to bring this new technology to market, strengthen our presence in the equipment space, and complement our core IOL business.”
