HOYA Presents New Data on MiYOSMART iQ Spectacle Lenses

02/09/2026

HOYA Vision Care recently announced interim 6-month data from its randomized controlled clinical trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of MiYOSMART iQ spectacle lenses to treat children 4 to 12 years of age who have progressive myopia. The company’s myopia control solution uses the defocus incorporated multiple segments (DIMS) technology with the addition of a triple enhanced design (DIMS TED).

The interim data showed no myopia progression, on average, at 6 months in children wearing MiYOSMART iQ spectacle lenses, with minimal eye growth. The MiYOSMART iQ lenses also led to twice the effectiveness of the MiYOSMART spectacle lenses in controlling axial elongation and myopia progression, based on the interim analysis.

The design changes—a smaller clear central zone, defocus segments moved closer to the center, higher defocus power, and extended treatment zone—are intended to continuously activate the near‑peripheral retina, which targets the region identified as most responsive to myopic defocus.

“These are the most impressive myopia control results seen so far with DIMS Technology based spectacle lenses,” said Dr. Natalia Vlasak, Global Head of Medical and Scientific Affairs, HOYA Vision Care. “The conversation has now moved beyond slowing down myopia progression; with the compelling clinical evidence behind MiYOSMART iQ, we are entering a new era of myopia control – where no myopia progression on average could be reached.”

The MiYOSMART iQ, currently available in major eye hospitals in China, will be sold alongside HOYA Vision Care’s MiYOSMART spectacle lenses. MiYOSMART and MiYOSMART iQ spectacle lenses are not approved for use in the management of myopia in all countries, including the United States.
