Kila Hanrahan, who has more than a decade experience in fundraising initiatives, has joined the Holland Foundation for Sight Restoration as Director of Development.

“We are very excited to have Kila joining the Holland Foundation as the first employee,” said Holland Foundation Executive Chairman Robert Dempsey. “As a Certified Fund Raising Executive with fundraising experience for major philanthropic organizations along with her strong desire to build an organization makes her the perfect person to lead this initiative.”

The Holland Foundation is the only foundation created to address the significant unmet medical need of corneal transplantation for patients who have Severe Ocular Surface Disease while enabling surgeons the resources to provide the treatment across the country. Led by Edward Holland, MD, an internationally recognized and pioneering ophthalmologist in the treatment of Severe Ocular Surface Disease practices at the Cincinnati Eye Institute and at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

“When you stop and think about the number of individuals who are impacted by Severe Ocular Surface Disease on an annual basis and the fact that no other organization is addressing this unmet need, you realize how critical the work of the Holland Foundation is,” Ms. Hanrahan said.

“We all have the opportunity to improve the lives of others and the communities that we live in,” she said. “It’s something that I feel very passionately about. What struck me as I researched the Holland Foundation, and, especially as I met several board members, is that it was clear they felt that same passion to address this unmet medical need head on and to change the lives and outcomes of patients. I knew I wanted to be part of that work and I knew I had the skillset and expertise to help take the Foundation to the next level.”

Ms. Hanrahan comes to the Holland Foundation with more than 11 years of experience in fundraising, including work with major gifts, corporate philanthropy, planned giving, and special events. Her most recent role was with the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, where she served as Director of Development at Jewish Family Service and managed the Federation’s Annual Campaign.

She has been an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals since 2014 and joined the Greater Cincinnati Chapter Board and serving as President in 2021. She earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential in 2020.
