Harrow Launches Initiative to Expand Access and Affordability for Eye Care Medications

11/13/2024

Harrow announced an initiative aimed at enhancing access and affordability for its ophthalmic pharmaceutical products. This program includes targeted price reductions for several widely used Harrow products, along with a strategic partnership with prescription savings platform GoodRx.

The company began its 'Access and Affordability Program' this week by implementing price reductions for Vigamox and Maxidex, two treatments for bacterial infections and inflammation. Harrow is currently analyzing additional products to include in the program, with the goal of lowering barriers that prevent patients from obtaining high-quality eye care.

“Lowering the cost of these essential medications allows us to improve patient access and ultimately enhance outcomes,” Mark L. Baum, Chairman and CEO of Harrow, said in a company news release. “We want to ensure that cost does not become a barrier for those in need of critical sight-preserving treatments.”

In conjunction with the price reductions, Harrow has formed a partnership with GoodRx to offer cash-pay alternatives for several of its products. The partnership covers a range of medications, including Flarex, Ilevro, Tobradex ST, Vevye, and Zerviate, among others. By leveraging GoodRx’s platform, Harrow said it is addressing the needs of patients who may not have sufficient insurance coverage, providing them with discounted prices on essential treatments.

“Our company was founded on a mission to help patients manage and preserve their sight by providing access to innovative and affordable medicines, and these initiatives are a significant step in advancing that mission,” Mr. Baum said. “We’re creating a win-win: helping patients access critical sight-saving treatments while simultaneously delivering improved value to Harrow’s shareholders.”

Patients can access these offers through the GoodRx website or mobile app. By entering their prescription details, patients can find participating pharmacies near them and obtain discounts instantly. Harrow said it is exploring additional measures to expand the Access and Affordability Program to encompass more products.
