Haag-Streit Unveils METIS Ophthalmic Microscope System image

Haag-Streit has introduced the METIS ophthalmic microscope system, which is designed to provide optical performance, ergonomic design, and advanced features tailored for precision and efficiency.

Superior Optical Experience

The METIS microscope integrates Haag-Streit’s optics into the operating room, ensuring clarity and precision during surgeries. It features a coaxial red reflex that provides stable and bright visualization, even in low-light conditions, according to Haag-Streit. This makes it particularly ideal for delicate procedures like capsulorhexis and capsular polishing. The system's optimized optics ensure accurate color reproduction, high light transmission, and a large depth of field, enabling surgeons to work with visual accuracy.

Ergonomics and Efficient Control

The system includes motorized tilt, intuitive controls, and a compact design that maximizes space and enhances movement within the operating room. Surgeons can control tilt, filter, focus, and zoom using hand or foot switches, with wireless control of up to 14 functions, streamlining procedures and enhancing comfort during long surgeries.

Glaucoma Positioning

METIS provides control over glaucoma positioning, with a motorized tilt that can be activated at the touch of a button, allowing adjustment of the viewing angle. An innovative adaptation to the binoculars enables smooth, one-handed repositioning with a sterile cover, ensuring a streamlined and efficient workflow during minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MiGS) procedures, without compromising speed or safety.

High-Resolution 4K Visualization

The METIS system is equipped with integrated 4K video technology, delivering color, clarity, and detail across all surgical procedures. The 27-inch touchscreen monitor is ergonomically positioned to optimize workflow, enabling real-time collaboration and straightforward documentation.

Future-Proof and Modular Design

METIS is designed with a modular structure, allowing easy upgrades such as 3D heads-up displays. This adaptability makes METIS a future-proof investment, giving surgeons the flexibility to evolve their setup as new technological advancements become available.

Extra Benefits for Surgical Specialists

The METIS system also offers sustainable LED illumination, which reduces heat and energy consumption while providing efficient lighting. The system also includes an assistant microscope for collaborative learning, wide-angle fundus visualization for comprehensive views, and the Microscope Imaging and Operation System (MIOS 6) with a user-friendly dashboard and intuitive menus.

‘Sneak Preview’ at the ESCRS Congress

Haag-Streit will offer a first look at the METIS ophthalmic microscope during the 42nd Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) in Barcelona. Visitors to booth 7.C66 will be able to experience the system firsthand.
