Haag-Streit Unveils Elara 900 Slit Lamp and Refractor 900 Digital Phoropter at ESCRS
Haag-Streit announced the launch of the Elara 900 slit lamp and the Refractor 900 digital phoropter. Both innovations will debut internationally at the ESCRS 2025 Congress in Copenhagen and make their US premiere at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting in October.
Elara 900 Slit Lamp
According to Haag-Streit, the Elara 900 introduces a projector-based “P-Type” light source paired with the company’s renowned optical quality. The system enhances the visualization of fine ocular structures across a broad range of clinical scenarios.
Efficiency is built in. Intelligent one-touch “presets” allow clinicians to apply customized examination settings instantly, while motorized height and magnification controls enable quick, seamless adjustments. For teaching and documentation, an optional dual-camera configuration supports immersive 3D* and 4K image and video capture.
Ergonomic details such as inclined oculars, a spacious headrest, and well-placed controls help reduce physical strain.
Refractor 900 Digital Phoropter
The Refractor 900 is designed to bring precision and speed to digital refraction. Built with high-precision mechanics, it offers ultra-fast lens changes, 1/8-diopter sphere and cylinder adjustments, and real-time video imaging for accurate vertex-distance measurement.
The device supports customizable refraction sequences and features a transparent lens carrier with a quiet motor to create a calmer exam environment. An intuitive touchscreen interface and ergonomic button layout further streamline operation.
For seamless clinical integration, the Refractor 900 provides secure EMR connectivity, multi-device compatibility, and direct control of vision-testing tools such as the Acuity Chart 900, minimizing manual input while ensuring consistent results.
