ESCRS Delegates Invited to Attend a ‘Cataract Surgery Virtual Reality (VR) Training Experience’

Haag-Stret is inviting ESCRS delegates to booth B86/B78 to attend a "Cataract Surgery Virtual Reality (VR) Training Experience," and witness some of the exciting features of the Haag-Streit Simulation Eyesi Surgical Simulator, first-hand. This 20-minute training experience will allow trainees to see the surgical field in stereo and high-resolution, while operating with life-like surgical instruments.

Section 1 of the training experience will enable trainees to become familiar with the simulator by performing some initial warm-up tasks, which will train hand-eye coordination, as well as microsurgical skill, without involving any pathologies. 

Section 2 will focus on cataract procedures and include various tasks such as; capsulorhexis, hydro manoeuvrers, phaco divide-and-conquer, I&A, and IOL implantation. 

Performance will be measured on the success of the virtual reality cataract surgery, based on several different parameters, and scored in an objective evaluation. Performance scores will be emailed to trainees post-ESCRS congress.
