Ellex Launches Eye Prime Ultrasound Solution
Ellex Medical Lasers Limited announced the preview of Eye Prime, a next generation ultrasound platform, at the 2018 annual meeting of the AAO. The system’s imaging capability makes it a important diagnostic tool in ophthalmology, and when paired with Ellex’s proprietary Reflex Techology, offers a solution for the visualization and treatment of eye floaters.
Eye Prime Technology
Designed with Ellex’s latest technological advancements, Eye Prime features industry leading 6-ring Phased Array Annular Technology, which emits alternating ultrasound waves from six concentric transducers located in a single probe. The transmitted beam from each transducer can be focused through a wide range of depths in 1mm increments to deliver new standards of accuracy, flexibility and image quality.
The system also offers real-time, dynamic imaging, which optimizes resolution at each pixel and extends the depth-of-field at each focal point. Its 120dB signal-to-noise ratio delivers enhanced sensitivity, and its real, segmented time gain compensation (TGC) provides new levels of flexibility in determining echo amplification and tissue differentiation preservation.
Eye Prime for Floater Visualization
Eye floaters can be disruptive, negatively impacting everyday life. For clinicians, sensitivity of visualization is paramount when it comes to floater management. In B-Scan 12MHz mode, the Eye Prime can visualize the entire vitreous – in perfect focus, from posterior lens to the retina. Large apertures, unique time gain compensation (TGC) presets and deep focusing ensure superior visualization of targets such as vitreous membranes and opaque collagen.
Eye Prime Key Features:
- Unprecedented depth of field
- Phased Array Annular Technology delivers crisp, high definition imaging
- Agile Focus for image optimization
- Increased lateral resolution and high axial resolution
- Entire eye visible in exceptional detail
- Focus in 1mm steps
- Discern between finest ocular structures
- Depth dependent real-time sensitive gain compensation (TGC) for excellent resolution
- Elimination of retinal saturation whilst preserving vitreous detail and sensitivity
The Eye Prime will be previewed at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), 27-30 October 2018, Ellex Exhibit #1044.
Eye Prime™ is not yet approved for sale in the USA FDA 510(k) pending.
