DefEYE Inc. Launches as Independent Ophthalmic Biologics Company
DefEYE Inc. announced its official launch as an independent company, effective Oct. 1, 2025. DefEYE previously operated as Verséa Ophthalmics, a subsidiary of Verséa Health, Inc.
Biovance has secured exclusive commercial rights to a portfolio of decellularized biologics, most notably the Biovance franchise, including: Biovance 3L Ocular, and Biovance decellularized amniotic basement membrane products. According to DefEYE, Biovance and Biovance 3L Ocular are the only decellularized basement membranes used to elevate the management of ocular surface disease and ocular surgery. The company also has rights to other human placenta–derived biologics, with significant potential applications in eye care.
DefEYE will be led by Rob Sambursky, MD, Chief Executive Officer, a Wills Eye-trained corneal specialist and entrepreneur with proven success in both diagnostic and therapeutic platforms.

Joining him on the executive team is Robert Glashow, Chief Financial Officer.
