China’s NMPA Approves Zeiss Artevo 750 and Artevo 850 Ophthalmic Microscopes
Zeiss announced that China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) has approved the Zeiss Artevo 750 and Zeiss Artevo 850 ophthalmic microscopes.
Designed to support both anterior and posterior segment procedures, the newly approved microscopes are designed to deliver high-quality optical and digital visualization to meet the demands of modern ophthalmic surgery. With upgrades across both hardware and software, the systems enable more precise surgical performance and enhanced patient safety through improved resolution, intelligent RGB illumination, and full compatibility with the latest generation of Zeiss’s cataract workflow.
“The introduction of Zeiss Artevo 750 and Artevo 850 microscopes powerfully demonstrates our commitment to ophthalmologists in China,” said Martin Fischer, President & CEO of Zeiss Greater China. “We will leverage the power of innovation to contribute to the advancement of eye health in China and better serve Chinese surgeons and their patients.”
The Zeiss Artevo 750 made its Chinese debut at the 2025 China International Import Expo (CIIE). According to Zeiss, combining advanced digital technologies with Zeiss’s established optical expertise, the Artevo 750 allows surgeons to fine-tune their surgical view across routine and complex procedures, including cataract and vitreoretinal surgery, corneal transplantation, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). With enhanced resolution, increased depth of field, intelligent RGB illumination, and integrated intraoperative OCT, the Artevo 750 supports excellent usability and a seamless end-to-end surgical workflow.
The Zeiss Artevo 850 is a 3D-enabled digital ophthalmic microscope designed for multiple ophthalmic subspecialties. It combines customizable 3D digital viewing with functional integration, intuitive usability, and connectivity within a comprehensive Zeiss medical ecosystem.
Key features include the Digital Color Assistant (DCA), which enhances color contrast to accentuate anatomical details, and Smart Depth of Field (DoF) technology, which can optimize depth of field by up to 60%, helping surgeons maintain clarity throughout procedures. A redesigned user interface for Zeiss CALLISTO eye consolidates controls onto a single intuitive touchscreen, while seamless digital integration enables reference image matching directly on the 3D display and fully surgeon-controlled, markerless toric IOL implantation.
The Zeiss Artevo 850 will be showcased as part of Zeiss’s ophthalmic workflow solutions at the Zeiss booth (#5FG-J01) during the 41st Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress, taking place in Hong Kong from February 5-8, 2026.
