Center For Sight is the First Practice Worldwide to Offer the OptiBlue IOL
Center For Sight, which operates 14 eye clinics and surgery centers in Southwest Florida, is the first eye care practice to offer the new OptiBlue IOLs (Johnson & Johnson Vision), an advanced intraocular lens technology that filters violet light to improve contrast and clarity for cataract patients, according to a news release.
Higher-energy wavelengths create additional light scatter, and exposure to violet light is linked to both cell death and retinal damage. The OptiBlue lens is unique in that it filters damaging rays while still allowing blue light transmission to the eye, which enhances image quality in low light. Trials showed OptiBlue patients experienced less difficulties driving in daytime and nighttime, reported no frustration with their vision and had an intensity reduction in halos caused by headlights and smartphone lights, according to Center For Sight.
“US Eye and Center For Sight are committed to providing patients with the most advanced technology available,” David Shoemaker, MD, founder and CEO of US Eye and Center For Sight, said in the news release. “It’s incredibly important that we equip our surgeons with the most innovative products on the market. The addition of the OptiBlue intraocular lens gives them one more tool to help our patients achieve remarkable visual outcomes and an enhanced quality of life.”
Center For Sight, which is part of the US Eye network of practices, has locations in Englewood, Fort Myers, Naples, North Port, Punta Gorda, Sarasota and Venice. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit CenterForSight.net or call 941-488-2020.
