Cathleen McCabe, MD, Appointed Strategic Medical Advisor at Bausch + Lomb

Bausch + Lomb has appointed Cathleen McCabe, MD, as Strategic Medical Advisor. According to B+L, in this new consultancy role, Dr. McCabe will contribute her expertise to Bausch + Lomb’s product portfolio expansion and collaborate with the research and development team to drive innovation and meet unmet patient needs. Dr. McCabe will also serve as a liaison between the company and its global network of eye care professionals.
“Innovation has been at the core of Cathy’s illustrious career as an ophthalmic surgeon, which aligns with our focus on providing eye care professionals, patients, and consumers with new and differentiated treatment options,” said Chief Medical Officer Yehia Hashad, MD.
Dr. McCabe brings nearly three decades of experience as a cataract and refractive surgeon, educator, and innovator. She has participated in clinical trials for breakthroughs in IOLs, perioperative medications, glaucoma treatments, dry eye therapies, and presbyopia correction.

In addition to her work in ophthalmology, Dr. McCabe is dedicated to community service, holding board positions with several charitable organizations including Sight for Life and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Foundation. She has held numerous leadership roles in the field, such as president of the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society, member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Council, and an executive board member of ASCRS. Dr. McCabe also served as chief medical officer of Eye Health America.
