CASExGLOBAL Launches First AI-Powered Site Management Organization

10/14/2024

The Centers for Advanced Surgical Exploration (CASExGLOBAL) announced a new partnership with Clinical AI and iOR Partners to introduce what it is calling the first AI-powered site management organization (SMO) and bring clinical trials to ophthalmic office-based surgery (OBS) centers.

iOR Partners develops OBS suites nationwide and Clinical AI specializes in the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare and life sciences. According to CASExGLOBAL, this initiative brings together artificial intelligence and a decentralized trial framework, aiming to streamline processes, enhance patient safety, and accelerate drug and device development.

“Our top priority has always been patient safety and scientific integrity,” said David RP Almeida, MD, MBA, PhD, Founder of CASExGLOBAL, in a company press release. “The OBS model we’ve developed at Erie Retina Research is the most efficient way to operate an ophthalmology focused clinical research site, accelerating the pace of research while prioritizing patient safety and experience. This model is ready to grow; and with iOR Partners and Clinical AI, we are ready to bring our novel model and proven strategies to the 130+ iOR Suites around the world.”

In addition to the innovation of AI-powered systems, iOR Partners has a rigorous accreditation process to build their OBS centers, making them ideal for decentralized clinical trials, said Tony Burns, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of iOR Partners.

“Our network of iOR Suites is already accustomed to going through extensive steps to become accredited. With our broad surgeon network and the ability to work directly with sponsors, we will roll out unique strategies that will redefine clinical research across ophthalmology,” Mr. Burns said.

Alex Ravitz, Chief Operating Officer of Clinical AI, noted that Clinical AI is pioneering the use of AI in healthcare specifically in areas such as streamlining clinical trials. “Our platforms allow trials to move faster while maintaining high data quality, shortening the time it takes for new medical products to receive regulatory approvals,” he said.

Both iOR Partners and Clinical AI are presenting their ideas for clinical trial innovation at the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) meeting next week in Chicago, October 18-21, 2024.
