BostonSight Expands Scleral Lens Portfolio with New Smaller Diameter Options

04/15/2026

Key Takeaways

  • BostonSight introduced three new smaller BostonSight Scleral lens diameters available in a single FitKit for both eyes
  • The full scleral lens diameter range now spans 14.5 mm to 19.0 mm, with consistent design features and fitting approach across all sizes
  • Smaller diameters expand fitting options for pediatric patients and those with smaller corneas or difficulty handling larger lenses

BostonSight announced the expansion of its BostonSight Scleral lens portfolio with the introduction of three new smaller diameter options: 14.5 mm, 15.0 mm, and 15.5 mm.

The newly launched sizes are available together in a single FitKit trial set and include lenses for both right and left eyes, streamlining the fitting process for eye care practitioners. With this addition, BostonSight Scleral now offers a comprehensive diameter range spanning from 14.5 mm to 19.0 mm.

Despite the expanded sizing options, BostonSight confirmed that its established suite of design features remains consistent across all diameters. This uniformity enables practitioners to fit lenses across the full range using the same fitting philosophy and ordering process, minimizing complexity while enhancing flexibility.

“Expanding our diameter range allows doctors to truly fit patients of all ages and conditions,” said Karen Carrasquillo, OD, PhD, FAAO, FSLA, FBCLA, Chief Innovation and Education Officer at BostonSight. “The smaller diameters are ideal for pediatric patients, smaller corneas or apertures, and individuals who may have difficulty handling larger lenses.”

The addition responds directly to practitioner demand for more adaptable sizing options without compromising the performance of the BostonSight Scleral design.

BostonSight Scleral lenses are widely used to manage complex corneal conditions and provide improved vision and comfort for patients with irregular corneas or ocular surface disease. The expanded diameter range is expected to further enhance customization and accessibility for a broader patient population.
