Bausch + Lomb announced the publication of clinical trial results for its Teneo Excimer Laser in the August issue of the Journal of Refractive Surgery. These findings supported the FDA approval of the Teneo platform for LASIK in January 2024, specifically for myopia and myopic astigmatism, according to B+L.

The prospective multicenter study involved 168 participants who underwent LASIK surgery using the Teneo platform. Over a 9-month follow-up period, the trial assessed postoperative visual and refractive outcomes. Key results include 97.8% to 100% of eyes achieving 20/25 or better visual acuity, and 92.7% of eyes reaching residual refractive error within ±0.50 D. Additionally, patient satisfaction with their vision soared from 27.7% before surgery to 98.1% postoperatively.

In January, Teneo became the first excimer laser approved in the US in nearly two decades. To view EyewireTV's coverage of the approval, click here
