Bausch + Lomb Introduces Envista Toric MX60ET IOL With Stableflex Technology
Bausch + Lomb has introduced the enVista toric MX60ET hydrophobic acrylic IOL with StableFlex technology. Bausch + Lomb says the MX60ET provides improved material properties to deliver enhanced optic recovery following delivery. Like the enVista toric MX60T, the MX60ET offers a glistening free optic and a broad range of cylinder powers as low as 1.25 D, making these lenses the only domestically available IOLs that correct <1D of astigmatism at the corneal plane, according to a company news release.
“A significant number of today’s cataract patients have astigmatism and addressing it at the time of cataract surgery should be our priority as it would be with prescribing spectacles or contact lenses,” Chuck Hess, vice president and general manager, U.S. Surgical, Bausch + Lomb, said in the news release. “The enVista toric MX60ET, the newest toric option available in the U.S., is designed to deliver high quality of vision and exceptional rotational stability to a broad range of patients, with the added benefit of enhanced optic recovery provided by StableFlex technology.”
The enVista family of lenses, which include monofocal and toric IOLs, feature a unique set of features that help compensate for the eye’s natural imperfections. The Trusight aspheric optic design provides the benefits of excellent image quality and depth of field, as well the potential for increased resistance to scratches and abrasions that may occur during loading and surgical manipulation, according to a company news release.
Step-vaulted AccuSet haptics allow for extensive interaction with the capsular bag to aid in securing the lens position. The SureEdge design features a continuous 360-degree square edge; similar square edge designs have been shown to have the potential to prevent posterior capsular opacification compared to round edge designs.1,2,3 The enVista IOLs also remain the only single-piece, hydrophobic acrylic lenses domestically available that have been proven to be glistening-free.4
“In my experience with the new enVista MX60ET, the significantly enhanced optic recovery has contributed to my procedural efficiency,” Dee Stephenson, MD, from Stephenson Eye Associates in Venice, Florida and first surgeon globally to implant the lens, said in the news release. “This benefit, combined with the exceptionally clear enVista optic, the excellent rotational stability and wide range of cylinder powers, will make this lens a go-to choice for my astigmatic patients.”
