Azar Lays Out Optimistic COVID-19 Vaccine Timeline of 100 Million Doses by End of 2020
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar was optimistic that the administration could have 100 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the year but did not promise a vaccine approval before election day, according to a FierceHealthcare report.
Azar spoke Thursday during an event sponsored by Goldman Sachs to give an update on Operation Warp Speed, a White House effort aiming to speed up development and distribution of a vaccine.
“We may have up to 100 million doses by the end of the year, enough to cover especially vulnerable population,” he said.
