Alcon Showcases Surgical Efficiency of Unity VCS Innovations at ASRS 2025

Alcon will showcase its latest clinical data and innovations at the 2025 American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) annual meeting, July 31 to August 2, in Long Beach, California. Attendees can explore Alcon’s latest surgical advancements through scientific presentations and hands-on demonstrations of Unity Vitreoretinal Cataract System (VCS), and Unipexy Gas Delivery System. The “Retina Live” podcast will be hosted in the booth, featuring interviews with world-renowned retina surgeons sharing their first-hand experiences with these technologies.
“At ASRS, we’re proud to highlight our singular, strategic vision: delivering surgical efficiency and equipping retina specialists with the tools to achieve exceptional patient outcomes,” Jim DiFilippo, Vice President & General Manager, U.S. Surgical at Alcon, said in a company news release. “From the introduction of Intelligent Fluidics and HyperVit 30k CPM Vitrectomy Probe to the TetraSpot Multi-spot Laser Probe, the Unity VCS platform brings first-to-market innovations.”[1,2,6]
Data Presentations at ASRS to Highlight Surgical Efficiencies
As part of several symposia throughout the meeting, Alcon will present the following data on Unity VCS:
- Steve T. Charles, MD, FASRS, FACS, FICS Presentation: “Comparison of Traction Force between Current Generation and Next Generation Vitrectomy Systems (25Ga),” Friday, August 1 at 8:00 a.m.[]2
- Kourous Rezaei, MD Presentation: “Functional Assessment of a Novel 27-Gauge Multi-Spot Laser Probe in a Surgical Simulation Bioniko Eye Model,” Friday, August 1 at 8:03 a.m.[1]
- David R. Chow, MD, FRCS(C) Presentation: “The Safety, Brightness and Clinical Options of the LED RGB Light Source on the UNITY Vitreoretinal Cataract System (VCS) Platform,” Friday, August 1 at 8:06 a.m.[5]
- Martin Charles, MD Poster Presentation: “Advancing Intraocular Pressure (IOP) Control: What Next-Generation Surgical Systems Bring to IOP Management.”[3]
- Martin Charles, MD Video Presentation: “IOP Control During Phacofragmentation: CONSTELLATION Vision System (CVS) vs. UNITY VCS (UVCS).”[4]
- Mrinali Gupta, MD, FASRS Paper on Demand Presentation: “Efficiency of TetraSpot vs. Single Spot Endolaser During 25G Vitrectomy Surgery”.[6]
Unity VCS and Unipexy Available for Demonstration at the Alcon Booth
In addition to Unity VCS, which will be available for surgeons to demo and purchase during ASRS, Alcon will be providing demo of the Unipexy Gas Delivery System. Unipexy is a highly portable, in-clinic gas delivery system featuring an integrated single-dose pico-cylinder of perfluoropropane (C3F8) or sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), enabling convenient and efficient pneumatic retinopexy.[7-9]
