Alcon Showcases Breakthrough Innovations and New Clinical Data at AAO 2025 image

Alcon will highlight a lineup of new technologies and clinical data at the 2025 American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting, October 18–20, in Orlando.

At booth #2120, ophthalmologists, surgical staff, and industry leaders will have the opportunity to experience Alcon’s latest advances firsthand—including the Valeda photobiomodulation (PBM) system, the OnAxis Technology software for the LenSx femtosecond laser, and the new prescription treatment for dry eye disease, Tryptyr (acoltremon ophthalmic solution) 0.003%.

“This year marks a defining moment for Alcon,” said Sergio Duplan, Alcon Senior Vice President and President, Americas. “From the launches of Unity VCS | CS, PanOptix Pro, and Ttyptyr to the integration of Valeda PBM, we’ve introduced significant technology across nearly every ophthalmic specialty we support. AAO 2025 is an opportunity to show how these innovations are impacting clinical practice, empowering surgeons, and shaping the future of eye care.”

Alcon’s Unity VCS | CS combined vitreoretinal and cataract system is designed for efficiency and performance. The system features more than a dozen first-to-market technologies and can be experienced in both the combined Unity VCS console and the standalone Unity CS cataract configuration.

Visitors can also explore other 2025 launches, including Clareon PanOptix Pro, Voyager DSLT, wavelight plus, and Adi, each designed to enhance surgical precision and patient outcomes.

Advancing Retina Care with Valeda PBM

Following Alcon’s acquisition of LumiThera, the company has added the Valeda Photobiomodulation System to its retina portfolio. The Valeda PBM is the first and only FDA-approved light therapy proven to improve visual function in patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) for up to 2 years. Live demonstrations of Valeda PBM will be available at the booth.

Introducing OnAxis Technology for LenSx Laser

For the first time, Alcon’s LenSx femtosecond laser—with more than 4.5 million procedures worldwide—will feature OnAxis Technology for comprehensive astigmatism management. New capabilities include:

  • Capsular toric markings for precise toric IOL alignment and post-surgical verification

  • LaserArcs nomogram, which significantly reduces astigmatism in patients undergoing FLACS with arcuate incisions

  • Advanced fragmentation patterns for customizable lens fragmentation and optimized phaco technique

LenSx with OnAxis Technology is now available to US customers, with demos offered at the Alcon booth.

New Treatment Option for Dry Eye Disease: TRYPTYR

Alcon also introduces Tryptyr (acoltremon ophthalmic solution) 0.003%, a breakthrough neuromodulator eye drop for Dry Eye Disease (DED). Tryptyr is the first prescription eye drop shown to rapidly increase natural tear production as early as day one. Attendees can learn more about this novel therapy and Alcon’s expanding pharmaceutical portfolio at myalcon.com/prescription-drugs.
