AcuFocus Announces Extended Diopter Range for the IC-8 Small Aperture IOL

07/28/2020

AcuFocus announced that the IC-8 small aperture IOL power range now extends from +10.0 D to +30.0 D (0.50 D steps), offering eye care physicians the opportunity to provide more patients an uninterrupted extended range of vision from near to far.

The IC-8 IOL is a clear, aspheric monofocal lens with an embedded mini-ring or pinhole in the center. Utilizing small aperture technology, this novel lens is designed to increase a patient’s natural range of vision by protecting central organized light rays that enter the eye and restricting peripheral light rays that degrade image quality and range of focus.

“Having the IC-8 IOL in my practice has provided an exceptional option for my patients who are looking for spectacle independence,’” Professor Sathish Srinivasan, cataract and refractive surgery specialist at University Hospital Ayr, Scotland, and Medical Director of Ayrshire Eye Clinic, said in a company news release. “With the expanded power range, the majority of my patients will now be able to access the benefits of small aperture optics.”

Clinical studies demonstrate the IC-8 IOL produces unparalleled visual outcomes that deliver nearly 3.00 D of continuous and uninterrupted range of vision[1], compensation for up to 1.50 D of corneal astigmatism[1,2] and excellent image quality[1].
