May started with the inaugural MOD Live meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. Modern Optometry’s first in-person CE event was truly an experience unlike traditional CE events. The focus was on integrated care and medical optometry. Expert panels included seasoned key opinion leaders from optometry and ophthalmology as well as students and residents. Also on the agenda were strategic networking sessions with industry and peers and CE packed with valuable practice pearls for the medical optometrist. Nashville was the perfect setting for this future-forward event, featuring a great mix of food and fun. Articles born out of MOD Live will appear in the coming issues of Modern Optometry, so keep a lookout for those.
Our expressions are a dead giveaway of how much we enjoyed being a part of MOD Live 2022.
This issue is focused on all things neuro and the important relationship between vision and brain health. The eye is an extension of the central nervous system and can often be the primary site for neurologic symptoms, paving the way for the medically minded optometrist to be the first provider to uncover neurologic disease for the patient. By understanding the eye–brain connection, neuro-optometrists and medical optometrists alike can treat a multitude of symptoms and conditions caused by neurologic disease and trauma. And with the number of patients diagnosed with concussion and autism on the rise, this issue provides a much-needed roadmap for the neurologic care of our patients. Molly Ann R.
