Can exercise improve my glaucoma?
According to a new study, yes.
The study examined 141 patients between the ages of 50-80 with suspect or manifest glaucoma. All participants wore accelerometers to measure their level of activity and visual fields before and after exercise were analyzed. The research team found an association between physical activity and rate of visual field loss.
What seemed to slow visual field loss?
Patients demonstrating more steps (at least 1,000 daily steps), more moderate-to-vigorous activity, and more non-sedentary activity.
