What is it?

Acyclovir ophthalmic ointment approved for the treatment of herpes simplex keratitis.

What is the dosing?

A 1 cm ribbon is applied five times per day until the corneal ulcer is healed, then three times per day for seven days.

Side effects?

The most common adverse reactions reported in patients (2-10%) were stinging, punctate keratitis and follicular conjunctivitis.

When can I prescribe it?

TBD. The company is still finalizing its selection of a commercialization partner. (via and via)

The goal of Women in Vision is to provide a forum for women in the fields of ophthalmology and optometry to come together, support each other, and establish a strong presence in the community.
