Tell me about the study.
The study evaluated 115 patients, 85 of which were being treated for glaucoma. They established meibomian gland function via a series of testing (meibography, TBUT, Schirmer testing etc).
The authors found a significant correlation between meibomian gland loss and the number of glaucoma medications a patient was taking.
The take home: Patients taking multiple glaucoma drops are at risk for meibomian gland dropout and should be evaluated accordingly.
