A new mobile app called Fluid Intelligence is designed to help answer questions like, does my patient need an injection? It’s kind of like phone-a-friend for OCT but that friend is artificial intelligence.

How does it work?
The app uses artificial intelligence to determine if a picture of an OCT (that you snap with your phone) shows retinal edema. The company states that because there are less than 3,000 retinal specialists in the US, the app can provide information on whether a patient needs to see retina urgently or not. Demo here.
P.S. It’s $100.
