WHAT YOUR PATIENT MIGHT ASK YOU

Can I have a copy of my contact lens prescription?

Of course; I'll just need you to sign this form acknowledging that I gave it to you. Despite opposition from the AOA and other medical groups, the new FTC contact lens rule is happening.

What are the new provider requirements?

The new contact lens rule requires all eye doctors to obtain and store evidence that they provided each patient with a copy of their contact lens prescription. This evidence must be kept for at least 3 years.

The new contact lens rule requires all eye doctors to obtain and store evidence that they provided each patient with a copy of their contact lens prescription. This evidence must be kept for at least 3 years. Do you know any optometry students?

They could use some encouraging words. Part 1 boards were cancelled the day before the 4th years were supposed to take them, and many are struggling with this “new normal” of education. If you want to send encouraging words but don't know a student, I can hook you up with one. Email me!

See you next week!
